Idiota (Idiot) is our first Russian Imperial Stout and is exactly how we wanted – complex, powerful, but at the same time smooth, oily and super drinkable. The aroma and taste of this beer matches the complexity of Russian history: coffee, chocolate, toffee, licorice, nuts, molasses, forest fleece, dark dried fruits, and hop hog spice.
We recommend drinking it with small sips while being careful.

Bottle, 10.5%. Mild roasted aroma. Surprisingly mild aroma. Black colour. Small light brown head. The flavour starts off sweet, seems to have a little smoke. Bitter coffee notes. Fairly thick and syrupy mouthfeel. Alcohol bitterness in the finish, but not too bad. Bready aftertaste with some spent coffee grounds. As is often the case with this type of beer, I would have preferred it with less alcohol.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy dark tan head. Clear aroma of roast, with touches of malt and hints of hops and yeast. Bitter, roasty flavour with notes of coffee, dark chcocolate, malt, yeast and hints of dried fruit. Lingering, roasty, coffeelike aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel. Warming alcohol presence. Well-balanced. Relaxing. Good stuff.

On tap at Cathead Multitap, pours jet black with a small brown head. Nose is loaded with rich roasted malt, dark chocolate, and espresso. Flavour is wonderfully layered, with rich dark chocolate, some light espresso, and robust roasted malt. There are some hops in there for sure. Creamy, silky mouthfeel. Wonderful stuff.

Barwa ciemna, piana beżowa opada bez śladu. W aromacie gorzka czekolada oraz kawa. W smaku również wyczuwalne kakao oraz sos sojowy. Goryczka na średnim poziomie. Jestem lekko zawiedziony poziomem, liczyłem na więcej.

Butelka 330ml (BB 05.2019). Czarne jak smoła z niewielką, brązową pianą. Aromat jest agresywny, mocno palony aż popiołowy, strach się bać próbować. Ale w smaku mimo popiolowej palonosci jest slodkawa, słodowa kontra, która ową bardzo ładnie ugładza. Piwo jest pełne w odczuciu, gęste, w stronę wytrawnego na początku ale na finiszu górę bierze słodka strona mocy. Bardzo dobry, agresywny, świetnie zbalansowany RIS.
