The word ’gestalt’ means the concept of wholeness – the fact that when combined, things sometimes add up to more than the sum of their parts. That meal you are eating may be great on its own, but when you match it with a beer that reflects, counterpoints and magnifies the aromas and flavours already present, it can be a revelation, an epiphany even.

Nya Carnegie Amber is designed to be enjoyed with food and be as versatile as possible. With grilled or roasted meats and vegetables it sings in chorus with the caramelized notes, with sausage it has a ball and it delights in the company of barbecue.

This beer is what we call ‘malt forward’. That means that we allow the malt to show off and take centre stage, having said that, the subtle, grassy, herbal aroma of English Fuggles is also invited to the party. Most breweries describe the malt they use as the finest or choicest. Here at NyaCarnegie, we really mean it. All our malts are chosen from only the best maltings and are traditionally floor-malted to achieve maximum flavour.

MALTS: Floor-malted Maris Otter Pale Ale Malt, Amber Malt, Melanoidin Malt from the UK

HOPS: Perle (bittering), Fuggles (aroma)

YEAST: Brooklyn House Ale

ABV: 4.8%

ORIGINAL GRAVITY: 11,8° Plato

FOOD PAIRINGS: Very versatile. Seared meats, roasted vegetables, pickled anything.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a hazy amber with an off-white head. Sweet caramel aroma. Medium body, very toffeeish, chewy but thankfully not very sweet. Dry, but hardly any hops to be detected. Biscuity. Very interesting Amber actually - from a commercial point of view. 160216

Bottle from Systembolaget, Lugnets Allé in Stockholm. Smooth malty beginning. Nice round caramelly hints. Fresh, smooth, round with malty-caramelly body. Not much bitterness. Hints of dark brown cake, quite dry but still hints of cane sugar. Great caramelly-soft aftertaste, round and fresh and very easy to drink. Nice.
