12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/10/2019. Pours clear nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, toffee, raisin, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, herbal, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, toffee, raisin, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, herbal, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hops; and charcoal, roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread/crust, molasses, toffee, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great hop/char bitter/sweet balance; and no acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.4%. Overall this is a fantastic imperial coffee stout. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Not overly aggressively bitter/charred. Amazing balance of clean/rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee complexity, and earthy hops. Mild residual sweetness with lingering bitter dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on American style example. Plenty of bittering hops, without actually being hoppy; and having a great malt/coffee showcase.

On tap at Fat Heads Pittsburgh. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast coffee and dark chocolate. Medium body, similar flavors to nose, bitter roast finish, very good.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a black color with a small fluffy tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet and malty with notes of chocolate and coffee. The flavor was semi-sweet with toasty malts, coffee, cola, anise and marshmallow. Medium length finish. Medium body. Decent.

On tap at Fat Head's Portland, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish tinge and a small beige head. Nose brings out fairly laid back espresso and a touch of roasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines - it's not terribly robust and full-bodied. Kind of an underwhelming impie coffee stout in terms of body, though the flavour is good. Decent.

[2/23/15] Draught at Fat Head’s in Portland. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Great coffee and mocha aroma. Sweetish flavor with mocha, coffee, roast and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied. Nice.

On tap at mad mex. Big and black. Smell is volatile coffee. Quite strong, but not as strong as expected for an impy stout. Yes, that aroma is like alky fumes. Whiskey laced coffee impressions. Almost flat. Gets stronger during the session. Turns a little rude towards the end of the session. Finish is volatile coffee. Very alarming to the nose.
