Bottled, huge thanks HP! Murky brown body, opaque, off-white head, thick, small. Chocolate and brandy notes, lightly tart. Roasty, chocolatey taste, leaned out, bit appley. Simplistic, but relatively well hidden alcohol at least. Might have been better years before.

Bottle, 10.3%. Cloudy dark brown colour. Unstable frothy light brown head. The flavour is roasted and quite salty. A little sweetness, but not enough to balance the rather high bitterness. Hint of smoke in the finish. Creamy, oily mouthfeel. More salt in the aftertaste.

Bottle from the brewpub. Pours hazy very dark brown with stable tan head. Clear aroma of malt and barrel, mwith notes of yeast and touches of chocolate and leafy hints. Bitter, roasty and leafy flavour with notes of barrel and touches of malt and chocolate and yeast. Barrellike and roasty aftertaste with notes of yeast. Warming alcohol presence. Good, really good, although the barrel notes are a bit too heavy for my liking.
