A perfect marriage of beer, chocolate and whiskey!
We proudly present Horta, another masterfully crafted barleywine that has been aged to perfection in the finest whiskey barrels, sourced from our amazing neighbour Manufaktur Gölles. They buy new, never used barrels from the USA, charred white oak. Since they’re only 45 mins away from our brewery, we have a massive privilege to put our exquisite barleywine into the barrels, the very next day after they’ve been emptied.
To elevate the flavour profile even further, we incorporated the highest quality organic chocolate nibs sourced from another neighbour Zotter chocolate. The result is an amazingly layered barleywine that first hits the nose with cherry, dry fruits, caramel, honey, vanilla and very nicely incorporated chocolate. Compared to bourbon barrels it has some brighter notes from the barrel - almost as if it came from a tropical island. Prepare to indulge in the rich aromas and flavours of dried fruits, caramel, chocolate, cherry, and vanilla.
