There it is. A beer we’ve all been looking forward to: a New England IPA. A delicious full ale of 6.2% with lots of hops, which, unlike an IPA, is not bitter, but seems to be chock full of tropical fruits.

Surrounded by pineapple, peach and guava, you will enjoy it.

16/IV/25 - 33cl can from Albert Heijn supermarket (Oostakker), shared @ holiday in France, BB: 29/I/26, 08:28, B001 (2025-363)

Clear blond yellow beer, small creamy white head, unstable, dissipates quickly. Aroma: nice, pretty fruity, citrus, grapefruit, sweet mango, tropical fruits, oranges, zesty, nice! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: good bitterness up front, citrus, some grapefruit, pretty grassy, a little herbal, hoppy, minty touch. Aftertaste: slightly sourish, pretty watery, a bitter touch, somewhat piny, fruity, gentle sweetness in the finish, ok beer, but not very convincing as a NEIPA.

Bottle from a local supermarket. Aroma is fruity hops with grass, zesty citrus, some tropical notes, pineapple, pale malt. Flavour is light to moderate bitter and light sweet. Body is medium. As expected nothing smashing from 't IJ, that said a fine IPA.

33cl Fles van AH. Mistig goudgele kleur, witte kraag. Geur van Sorachi Ace, zo lijkt, vanille, bubblegum, steenvruchten, hint van kokos, citrusschil, zelfs nog degelijk bitter, licht grassig. Lichte body. Eindelijk weer eens een echt fatsoenlijk IJ bier.

0.33 l bottle from 'AH XL' (Enschede), best before February 2025. Hazy, golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, rather fruity, slightly dank and a little yeasty aroma of pineapple, passion fruit and green peppers. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, rather fruity taste of passion fruit, pineapple and some green peppers, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly dry finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Refreshing, pleasant stuff.
