Imperial stout aged exclusively in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for fifteen months.

Becoming enlightened takes patience; so does creating incredible barrel aged beers like this release.

In 2022 we teamed up with the zen masters at Moksa to build an imperial stout which meditated exclusively in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels for fifteen months. It spent that time soaking up spirited, oaky nuances until it reached flavor nirvana: Rich and roasty chocolate tones, leather, sun-soaked raisins, and a wisp of tobacco layer together to create something akin to a spiritual experience — especially once the 13.3% ABV kicks in. Intricate wood char and bourbon linger on the palate long after the viscous, velvety finish concludes.

On tap at The Wandering Tortoise, pours jet black with a small light brown head. Aroma is dominated by woody oak, bourbon barrels, molasses, and a bit of char. Flavour is sweeter than expected from the nose, with tons of rich bourbon barrels, toasted oak, a touch of char, and big, semi-burnt dark sugars. Real nice barrel character here, with a rich malty base beer to support the great barrel treatment. Excellent.

Bottle shared at CBJ - London. Big thanks to Dave. Pours big sweet flavour with a lot of gooey chocolate, some bourbon, moderate roast, fudge, raisins. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming and sticky to finish, some further ripe dark fruits, raisins, a little dark syrup, layered chocolate. A little cloying but nice in small dose. Enjoyable.
