Pitch black colour, brown foam. Nose of roasted malts, caramel, dried fruit, peat, cocoa. Roasty, peaty and fruity Taste. Good!

(Draught at Walhalla Brouwerij & Proeflokaal, Amsterdam, 17 Feb 2024) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted, smoky nose with notes of coffee, oak wood, dark chocolate, whisky and smoke. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, chocolate, smoke, tar, oak wood and a balanced roasty bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Rich, tasty, smoky and woody. Very nice.

33cl Blik. Zwarte kleur, beige kraag. Turf, kampvuur, gebrande mout, koffie, hout, hint van vanille, chocolade, hint van aardse drop, bitterzoet, meer turf. Medium tot volle body. Heerlijk.

0.33 l can from 'Rebelbeercans', canned in October 2023. Black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Intensely sweetish-malty, roasty, gently smoky-medicinal aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, whisky, peat, some dark fruits and a touch of smoked ham. Quite sweet, malty, fairly roasty, heavily smoky-medicinal taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, massive peat, iodine, ash, whisky, dark fruits, roasted hazelnut and light smoked ham, followed by a long, fairly roasty-bitter, ashy finish. Full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Super heavy beer, unbelievably intense, very demanding. The only thing that bugs me is the combination of peat and smoked ham, since normally, there's only one of those flavours. Oh my.

Can at home from DeBierkonig, Amsterdam, 21st December 23. Pours a rich, slick black oily stout. Aroma is peat, barrel, liquor, whisky, vanilla, taste is peat, barrel, wood, nice complexity, umami, soy, liquor and liquorice, mellow, bitter. Stunning stuff and reminds me of some of the classic De Molen or Emelisse BA stouts
