375ml can. Jet black colour with small to average, fluffy, diminishing, minimally lacing, tan head. Intense, chocolately, slightly roasty, dark malty and caramel malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, couverture, toffee, dark caramel, some vanilla, mocha, Bourbon, a touch of maple sirup, honey. Taste is sweet, roasty and chocolately, dark malty, slightly caramel malty, initially almost solely notes of mocha, then notes of maple sirup, dark chocolate, couverture, Bourbon, toffee, honey, some vanilla, wafers, the mocha remains as basic layer and gains weight (and height) in the last third again, a good deal of (embedded) alcohol throughout, sweetness is at the top level of fitting accuracy, some roasty, bitter dark chocolately (and proabably some hoppy) bitterness as counterpart. Viscous texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying, simultaneously minimally pungent (bitter hoppy and alcoholic) palate, medium to fine, soft carbonation. Excellent composition, very harmonious, immense but comprehensible sweetness and booziness, not really complex, rather a number of clean, focussed and distinct but interacting flavours - excellent!

0.375 l can from 'Hoptimaal', canned in November 2022. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish, gently roasty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, some bourbon and a touch of vanilla. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty, minimally fruity taste of praline, mocha, vanilla, some bourbon, hazelnut and some dark fruits, followed by a long, quite roasty-bitter finish. Full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Intense but rather sweet beer, on the other hand fairly roasty as well. The bourbon definitely adds some complexity and rounds it up. Good!

375ml can @ Pien, Helsinki. Loads of coffee, some dry roastiness, hints of earthiness and stingy woody notes.

Can. Color: Black, brown head. Aroma: Dark roasted malt, Bourbon, coffee notes. Boozy. Taste: Vanilla, dark roasted malt, Bourbon, boozy, dark chocolate and coffee notes, oak wood. Full body. Quite smooth, oily mouthfeel. Below average carbonation. Over moderate to medium sweet. Moderate bitterness. Bit sticky. Bit spicy. Hard to rate this beer. In one way I like it very much, in another way it's just too pastry and too smooth and lacking complexity. But it's definitely not as one-dimensional sweet as a lot of Bourbon BA beers are nowadays. Let me think about this for a moment... Final verdict: 4.0. Nice one but not outstanding.

(Can, 0.375l - canned on 01.11.2022 - BBE 11/2024, at Pien Shop, 20230309) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and quite large. Aroma had burnt malts, coffee, vanilla, wood and alcohols. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, vanilla, dark chocolate, coffee, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste had wood, vanilla and bitterness. The vanilla notes were very strong. Tasty but less adjuncts would have been nice.
