From France it reaches the whole world - the Cognac. The noble brandy is made from white wine and comes from very specific areas in France, because only then it may be called Cognac. The complex flavor of the cognac is created by the storage in wooden barrels, some of which lasts for years - it can range from sweetly aromatic to powerfully tart. We grabbed a few barrels and let our bock beer mature in them for three years.

0.75 l bottle from the brewery's web shop, best before November 2024. Clear, deep reddish amber with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, intensely vinous-fruity aroma of lots of cognac, vanilla, molasses, marzipan, honey and sultanas. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, fairly vinous-fruity taste of massive cognac, vanilla, sultanas, caramel, marzipan, honey and traces of oak, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, a little boozy finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Lovely cognac flavours, definitely outstanding among Maisel's BA Bocks, unfortunately a bit thin and effervescent for such abv. Still a very good one, mainly due to the barrel.
