This new hazy beer is pale in colour, yet delivers the rich, creamy textures which you would expect from a traditional stout, while its infusion of vanilla pods and cocoa nibs creates silky vanilla notes and hints of chocolate.

Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a medium sized frothy almost white head and good lacing. Is slow to clear but does eventually. The aroma has vanilla, malts and biscuits. In the mouth it is sweet with a decidedly creamy texture. Flavour has vanilla, malts and a hint of toffee. Later on traces of apricot and chewy fruit sweets come through as well. Finish is dry with a slight stickiness. This is quite nice – and definitely unusual ! I’ve drank white stouts before but this is the first one that really justifies the title.

Hand-pulled pint, clean amber body, white crown. Strong aroma and taste of vanilla with a sweet caramel/toffee like underbelly. Different and interesting!

Bottle from somewhere after a long day of dog walking, wood stacking and driving family members everywhere. Good pour with a weird sweet and vanilla taste. Good mouthfeel but I just don't dig the flavour.

Cask @ Crystal Palace, Glasgow. Clear deeper brighter golden with a head. Decent amounts of white chocolate are evident in both aroma and taste, but the flavour multiplies in its lingering aftertaste.

1/3 pint, cask at Hamilton Hall. Shared with Finn. Wetherspoon Beer festival, March 24. Clear amber body, bare naked surface, scattered lacing. Mild, mid-dry caramel nose. Taste of vanilla sweet caramel. Prolonged sweetness to the ending. Unvaried and too sweet for a better score. (London, 16.03.2024).

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] An amber pour with a thin off-white head; vanilla aroma; sweet vanilla taste to start, then dry with a bready body and a sour finish. Quite unpleasant.

Clear gold with a small bubbly white head and a very soft fruit and chocolate aroma. Smooth and creamy, sweet with vanilla and caramel flavours and a dry finish

Not usually too keen on these vanilla concoctions, but this reminds me of the Milky Bar Kid! More than a pint would probably make me sick though....!
