Draught at Stoddard’s, 12/23/15.
Lightly hazy, pale-golden with some light brass tints and a large white head that shows moderately-strong retention.
Strange nose gives off light white grapefruit, mild tropical fruit, lots of pepper and very light catty notes. Malt adds mild baked sourdough, very little honey and there’s a touch of b vitamin/aspirin.
The flavor begins with a light tropical fruit-like playfulness that quickly gives way to more intense grapefruit. Bitterness builds up quickly, with an acidic, pine resin character, tons of astringency and a very dull, baked white bread and b vitamin character. And then, as if that wasn’t enough, add some alcohol burn to it..."Thick" dextrinous texture with ample carbonation but just no sweetness/suppleness from the malt. The resin/acidity/alcohol just sinks in to the bland, bready, dextrinous texture and further fatigues the palate as it just sort of sits there. As with the others, I continue to ask, why do these have to be 8%?? Though there’s certainly much larger issues here than just the abv.
As with the rest of the series, it mostly seems like Port showing us they can really bitter the hell out of their IPAs......(great job....)

Draft our schooner at Elliott bay pizza. Light, clear, golden pour with a thin oily head. Odd hops aroma with a citrus note. Flavor is hop heavy, soft grains, a bit grassy, some melon flavor it seems, and a light lime. Bitter finish. This was just okay for me, but partly ecuase my expectations were so high. Not bad.
