Can. Just a light haze on this reddish amber beer, decent bubbly tan head. Airy palate, a very mild dryness, decent fine carbonation. Touch of malt cream into a nice darkish toffee streak. A mild savoury aspect from somewhere. Decent mince pie fruits and spices, captures that aspect very well. A fairly light finish. Nice job. Delivers the concept with enough recognisable malt richness for a barleywine and the two marry up well

Spandert av Rune. Delt på Vervet. Ultramørk amber. Mokkafarget filmskum. Appelsinskallaroma. Smaken tørket frukt. Trepreg. Tørr avslutning. Definitivt julepreg.

Clear dark amber beer, thin off-white head. Smells boozy, with dried fruit and caramel. Flavour has dried fruit too, a bit of sweet spirits, alcohol warmth, caramel, apple. Doesn't really have enough depth to it to mask the booziness, but it just about hits the brief. Not bad.

Poured a murky dark brown colour with a short-lived, fizzy off-white head. The aroma is a mixture of Christmas fruit and spices. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a crisp, somewhat surprisingly light, watery, caramel, mince pie, cinnamon, boozy alcohol palate. There’s really too much going on in there to try and differentiate the flavours. Medium to light bodied with lively carbonation. A bit of a mess if I’m honest and if I were the brewer I don’t think I’d have sold this.

Panda 🐼 at home big thanks to Colin. A reddish amber coloured pour with a small beige cap/ Aroma is semi sweet, sticky dried fruiit, cinnamon spices, some alcohol, rum and raisin, fudge. Flavour is composed of woody malts, bark, light solvent, nutmeg, woody spices, raspberry. Palate is semi sweet, light tang, tannin, highish carbonation. Good fun.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 21/01/23. Deep mahogany brown topped with a good sized beige head. Nose is sweet malts, mince pie mix, pastry, sugars, toffee, dates, dried fruit rinds. Taste comprises fruit cake mix, spice, touch of mince pie - less than the nose for me, dates, prunes, raisins, herb. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light kiss of booze. Fun enough barley wine ... pulls off the mince pie angle quite well.
