My second beer is a Vienna style lager called Bog Standard. I wanted to create a lower alcohol lager which was drinkable but with plenty of character. Bog Standard has aromas of toast and cereal along with a hint of earthy spice from noble hops. It’s dry and moreish on the palette with layered malty flavours. The bitterness compliments the flavour and leaves you wanting more.

Clear golden pour with a decent head. Grain, malt, citrus, some grass. Not bad at all.

330ml can from Beers of Europe. Gluten Free. Golden amber colour, white foam head and aroma of malt, grain, grassy hop. Taste is malty, grainy, with grassy bitterness. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, drying bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Half-pint, draught, shared with Finn at BeerKat. Spotty lacing from a stable pearl white head, clear warm golden body. Modest smell of pale malts with a citric note. Plain grain-fruity flavours. Mid-dry malt-fruity end. Soft on the swallow. Okay. (Ealing Broadway, London, 26.09.2023).

Delt med Rune på BeerKat. Mørk stråfarget. Høyt tett skum som daler sakte & etterlater tynn teppelacing. Aroma av korn & gress. Smaken litt tørr. Mere gress. I søtligste laget.

Can ordered from Hoppily. Aroma is low key - malts, yeast, grains. Slightly hazy golden amber. Thin and patchy bubbly translucent white head. Light sour citrusness over a light bitter core. Grainy. Malty. A hint of watery caramel sweetness. Light bodied. Thin but slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. It's alright. Thin. A tad sickly. But refreshing enough.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from La Bouche on Broadway Market. Pours clear copper-gold with a small, frothy off-white head. Basic beer but tasty enough, with notes of toasted malts, very light caramel, biscuits, honey, pale grains. Light bodied with average carbonation. Lightly sweet finish, nips of grassy bitterness, more toasted grains, impressions of dry caramel. Drinks fine.
