Cask ale at Euston Tap, shared with Finn, half-pint. Deep black-brownish body, stable beige head, rings of lace down the glass. Roasted malty smell, earth and chocolate, promising. Dark malt-driven taste of cocoa-chocolate, nuts, and a backdrop of coffee towards a roasted bitter end. Medium bodied. Like it. (Euston, London 18.02.2023).

Delt med Rune. Ultramørk amber. Luftig skumring med litt farge. Lett sjokoladearoma. Smaken lakris & sjokolade. Tørr kakao i avslutninga.

Handpull cask from the Castle, Cambridge. Dark brown with a tan head and massive lacing. Milk chocolate, roast coffee, a touch of posset. The taste is strong, sweet and a little meaty, with liquorice to the fore. Peppery hop in the long finish accompanied by more liquorice. Thin body but not impossibly so. I’m a bit spoiled for expecting more?

Cask@Charlies Bar, Copenhagen (16/06/2016) - dark brown pour with tan head. Sweet and medium roasted malty, with notes of cocoa, caramel, coffee, soft creamy smooth, sweet malty finish. Decent.

Cask @ The Railway, Hebden Bridge. Very dark brown with a thick creamy off-white head. Has a more stated nose than taste, with some light smooth and creamy roasted malts in this respect. It’s pretty much the same in taste with the smoothness transferring nicely into its texture too giving it a good mouthfeel.

Cask at the moon under water JDW Watford. Dark plum red coloured pour with a greyish tan loose head. Aroma is cold black coffee and roasted barley! Some earthy choc as well. Flavour is earthy roast, stale cold coffee and slight seaweed. Palate is thin with low carbonation. Short mineral duration. OK.
