Our interpretation of a modern American Pale Ale - Body Riddle arrives at near pilsner straw colour from its minimal malt base of Floor Malted British Pale Malt, Carapils and Wheat Malt so as not to crowd a busy bright hop bill of Lemondrop, Galaxy, Simcoe and Ekuanot hops.
As per our usual delivery we’ve packed this one out with a nose of lemon rind, passionfruit, grapefruit juice and fresh piney goodness that follows through to a silky soft, sessionable body.

Can at home in Hackney - sourced from Clapton Craft. Pours hazy gold with a modest, creamy white head. Lots of pithy citrus in the nose, lemon and grapefruit, some pale bread, minerals, pine needles. Light sweet flavour with a good dose of flinty dryness, more lemon rind, crunchy straw, biscuits, pithy grapefruit. Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Dry and pithy to finish, with more lemon and grapefruit, moderate rindy bitterness, more dry biscuity pale malts. Really clean stuff overall. Nice one.

On tap @Buskers Pub (Rome). Gialla torbida, schiuma bianca media a bolle grossolane. Al naso sentori floreali e leggermente speziati, erbacei. In bocca è maltata all'attacco con finale amaro abbastanza deciso. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Non un granché.

Can from BrewDog website and drunk at home. Hazy cloudy gold orange lasting white head. Grapefruit aroma. Attractive. Cleanish in the mouth. Just a little bit of earth. But it's a rather drinkable delicious mouthfeel. More like a juice mouthfeel than a beer mouthfeel. Pretty good I thought. Not top notch but for the ABV pretty tasty. Grapefruit mostly with a touch of pine and orange marmalade (thanks to Ken for that).

Keg at Salt Horse. Opaque golden body with thin white head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of Rich Tea biscuit and lemon. Flavour of melon rind and rice cake. Thin to medium body with a light texture. Soft fizz. There’s not much going on here. It’s fine but forgettable.
