We liked the idea of dedicating our winter ale to a demon, Krampus. Krampus refers to a legend of the Ladin countries. During the night of 5th December, the Krampus wander among the streets of the Alpine villages. Covered with sheepskins, horns and goat paws, they wave their black chains and terrorize people. It is the prelude to the arrival of Bishop San Nicola (an ancient precursor of Santa Claus) who will bring peace and gifts to the community.

This beer remembers the Christmas sweets. The taste of ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg remind the cozy winter evenings in company of friends and family.

Shared bottle at Lilland Bryggerihotell. ABV 7%. Deep red colour, off-white head. Distinct spicy aroma. Very spicy flavour too, also very sweet but not really sour, way too much anise.

Shared bottle at home. Pours hazy copper with fluffy off-white head. Aroma of cherries, dark dried fruits, nuts, wood, horse stable, white wine, some medicine, some notes of chocolate. Tastes sour and slightly sweet. Extremely high carbonation, thin to medium bodied.

Bottle. Reddish orange body with some floaters under a small beige head. Exiting and unusually aroma of sweetish malt, caramel, red fruit, and spices like sage, anise etc. Flavor Is medium sweet malt, some caramel, spices like aroma, dry fruit and low bitterness. Fine balanced body and long lasting aftertaste. Slightly unusually but rather pleasant take on the Christmas beer. It's not particular sweet but I don't find it distinct sour either.

Big 750ml bottle shared with Odd, Finn, Egil Børge and Leif. A dense, remaining off-white head over a cloudy ruby coloured body. Spotty lacing. Moderate aromas of caramel, earth and dark fruits. Dark fruity flavours joined by liquorice and spices. Mid-sweet malt-fruity finish. Rounded mouth feels. Satisfying yuletide feel.(Tasting of Christmas beers, Tromsø 18.11.2017).
