A bit hazy golden colour, small white head. Citrusy, lemon peel aroma. Light-bodied. Crisp, lemon peely flavour. Pale malts, clean. Very typical Brewdog-product. Maybe they brought yeast?

Can (thanks TBone!). Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is floral, some floral, fruity and mild toasted tones. Flavour is floral, some mild herbal and a bit citrusy and pineapple tones. Big herbal, a bit harsh bittery kick in the finish.

An unexpected find in the Albert Heijn supermarket of Lokeren: this collab between Uiltje and BrewDog, once pioneers in postmodern craft brewing in their respective countries - though truth be told, Uiltje is now in the hand of macro-brewing Swinkels and BrewDog's punk days are long gone, having become something of a craft-oriented macro brewery in itself. Thick, moussey, egg-white, shred-lacing, frothy and pillowy head over a misty yellow-golden robe with ochre-ish tinge and fine but widespread, enthusiastic sparkling. Aroma of mango, rambutan, pomelo, dry green peppercorns, Zespri kiwi, brioche dough, light diesel, stale lemon juice dankness, grapefruit pith. Hop-fruity onset in a lively way, but the flavours are a bit marred by rather sharp, minerally carbonation for this genre; nevertheless kiwi, halfripe mango, carambola and some granadilla show up, with a slight sourish undertone accompanying a restrained sweetish effect. Supple brioche-like malt body, continuing to be drenched in moderately tropical hoppiness with a stronger citrusy edge, in an exotic way (pomelo); mango and ripe yellow kiwi make a comeback retronasally, before a glow of gin-like alcohol warms things up, paired with a relatively long-stretched, mildly grapefruity, peppery bitterness and a slight degree of 'powderiness'. With the names of these two once important breweries on the can, it is hard not to ponder about how exciting, colourful and buzzing those early days of EU craft brewing were - ten years ago a beer like this would have attracted a lot of attention, whether it be made by Uiltje or by BrewDog (let alone a collab) - but today, this is, well, just another 'damn' IPA... Technically sound, fairly clean but to the point, following the 'hazy' idiom whilst injecting a few West Coast sparkles here and there - I cannot complain I guess, but it is hard to get as excited about this type of beers now as I got then. It just does the job, I guess, and it does it right, nothing more, nothing less.

Draft at the Uiltje Bar, Haarlem. Poured a murky golden orange colour with a short-lived frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is grainy malt, tropical citrus fruits. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter, with a smooth, fresh, orange marmalade citrus, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
