In Spring of 2022, Kyle from Horus Aged Ales came through Louisville and brewed a huge stout with us. We took that beast and dropped it in a Woodford Reserve barrel that had been used to make vanilla bourbon, for 12 months. But we weren't done yet. We then moved it over to a 9+yr Russell's Reserve Bourbon Barrel for another 6 months.
The dark liquid center is surrounded by a beautiful amber halo that lasts for days on the glass. A nose of bourbon and vanilla, gives way to milk chocolate and caramel on the tongue.

Bottle from a trade shared. Thanks Ryan! Pours a thick, pitch black with a finger of brown head that lingers, then dissipates. Loads of vanilla on the nose with oak, treacle and more vanilla. Vanilla on the palate with dark chocolate and oak. Vanilla dominates this one, but still enjoyable. Nice round, silky mouthfeel.
