12 ounce bottle. Jet black pour. Finger high creamy tan head. Roasted malt aroma hints at chocolate and oak. Flavor mirrors nose. Roasted malt, chocolate, oak, bourbon and espresso. Boozy notes in middle. Espresso flavor comes to the forefront on the backend.

120z bottle - shared with friends during Thankgiving. Very solid - coffee was prominent - drank easy for 12%

Bottle. Pours a thick black with a thin head of dense foam. Aromas are charcoal, coffee grounds, a little vanilla, and peat. Flavor is much sweeter than expected... lots of cream and chocolate with just a hint of that harsh charred barrel and espresso. Mouthfeel is one of the thinner KBS varietals I have tried. Very nice but I think it pales in comparison to a few of the others in the series.

Black with a large foamy brown head that left good lacing. Boozy, dry and woody with strong brewed coffee and a bit of smoke. Long finish. Moderately full bodied.

Aromas are lots of cocoa, fudge, dark malt with hints of molasses. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, with an odd tangy sweet bitter balance. Okay body and a fudge finish. Sounds weird.

Espresso bean, bourbon, chocolate malt, and grass/fresh hay aroma. Black with nice light brown head. Moderately sweet bourbon, latte, chocolate malt, and moderately bitter grass/fresh hay and alcohol flavor. Good body.

Bottle from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours dark brown with a dark tan head that tried to do a Guinness. Aroma of coffee, bourbon and chocolate. Med body. Flavor is the aroma. Not dry, but not sticky. Heat is fairly strong. Coffee is the lingering flavor.

Pours black with a small lingering tan head. It smells of chocolate, coffee, and bourbon. The flavor is quite sweet. Chocolate is very prominent, more so than the espresso. Bourbon is there but not terribly strong. I’d say more balanced. It finishes with some roasty character. Full bodied, the abv is high enough to be warming, but the taste of it is buried by the huge malt bill. Very tasty.
