Sample during Blarney Wine Festival 2025 on 03/15/2025. The beer pours a flat brown-black color with a thin off-white head that dissipates quickly to a sparse outer ring. Spots of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, caramel and malt. Medium body with flavors of oaky bourbon, caramel malt and ripe fruit. The finish is a little thin given the ABV, with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Probably faded, but still a pretty good Barley Wine.

Boozy, woody, sweet, rich. Tap at Flossmoor Station. Old school, real Barleywine, deep barrel tone. Rugged stuff. Hot boozy notes over thick malts.

750 ml. bottle. 2017 vintage. Thanks ClarkVV on the share! Aroma is oak, caramel, toffee, old oak. I mean old raisins, English toffee, wood. Not massively oxidized. At this point just a normal barely wine at this point.

2017 black wax bomber drunk 11/11/22. Dark amber, spotty lacing. Smells like a barrel aged barleywine. Tastes like a barrel aged barleywine. Good texture, not boozey, some oxidation. Caramel, bread, vanilla, bourbon. Why was this beer ever famous?!
Smells like a BA barleywine, tastes like a BA barleywine. Slightly oxidized, good but past its prime.

Flaska från Will, USA. 2017, rött vax. Kopparbrun med liten beige krona. Doftar av russin, likörpralin, inlagda körsbär, torkad frukt, portvin, sherry. Mellanstor kropp. Mycket fat och bourbon. Kryddigt. Humlen fortfarande närvarande, ger kryddiga toner. Old school, amerikansk BW i det något sötare skiktet. Kul och lite throwback.

Sample at Tide's Residence, Helsinki. Vintage 2017. Color is cloudy brown with very small head. Aromas and flavours: Raisins, some nuts & toffee, some ripe fruits and malts. Pretty dry. Good!
