Stallhagen Dark Honey is the darker sister beer to the popular Honungsöl or Honeybeer. A dry, fresh and malty lager beer with a deep distinguished aroma of honey. Dark Honey is medium bodied with a complex but well balanced maltiness, bitterness is round and pleasant. The colour is copper red, the head tight and creamlike with small soft bubbles. In the aroma notes of toasted bread and nuts are highlighted, complemented with a light fruitiness and subtle honey.

Dark Honey is flavored with genuine local honey collected by hardworking bees from wild flowering plants in the Åland archipelago. The honey gets a specific aroma depending on which flowers it was collected from – apple, clover, heather…

Dark Honey leads your thoughts to nice autumnal evening walks in the archipelago. This is a smooth nicely rounded beer to be enjoyed as such, it also pairs well with many foods. Suggestions: Pasta with wild mushrooms; mushroom soup; wild duck; waterfowl stew; hare and mild goat cheeses.

Bottle @ Post-Easter Procrastination, Ulfborg. Pours clear dark amber with small off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and fruit, with notes of hops and yeast. Sweetish flavour of malt and fruit, with bitter, hoppy notes and touches of citrus. Not much honey about it. Lively carbonation. Acetic and bitter aftertaste. Drinkable but nothing special.

Flaske 330ml fra Kilpishalli. Mørk amber. Middels høyt skum. Søt aroma av frukt & bær med innslag av krydder. Smaken det samme. Blir litt syrlig etter hvert. Bra - men i søtligste laget.

Thanks to Finn for a 330ml dark green bottle of this one. Deep, golden coloured body under a finger-thick, fawn-coloured head. Not much lacing. Smell of dark honey and earthy malts. Restrained taste character of roasted caramel malts, honey, and a little bit of dried fruits to the aftertaste. Medium to thin bodied. Okay, a bit too sweet (Tromsø 07.11.2014).

Bottled (from MiniMani Vaasa). Deep copper colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is some grains, mild honey, some toasted notes as well as some bready notes. Flavour is very similar, with the honey coming in rather mildly.

Bottle 330ml (K-Kamppi)
Dark chestnut brown color, mostly vanishing head. Some honey, grains and malts in the nose. Light-bodied. Flavor is quite malty, only light honey notes, so not really sweet beer. Some light bitterness in the finish. Clean, basic beer to have with sausages or after sauna. Not earthshaking but drinkable.
