16 ounce can from Tavour. Barely translucent reddish brown color. Frothy beige head settles to a small cap. Earthy, boozy, toasted malt nose hints at caramel. Flavor is bittersweet, toasted malt. Sweet and spicy. Dark dried fruits and plums in middle. Sticky, sweet and spicy on backend.

My pint can was acquired from Halftime some time ago. I enjoy seeing a domestic brewery delivering a Belgian ale, time to find out on this one. The New Belgium globe glass is ready for the pour, I see a brown-black body finished by a head of very fine, medium tan bubbles. I get a smell of dried dark fruit and bread, not anything out of the ordinary. The taste is dark raisins, malt, biscuit, blackberries for some reason, leather, plums and a bit of hoppy bitterness. The alcohol is well concealed. Dangerously easy to drink. A decent Belgian strong ale, I would have liked something memorable to jump out at me.

Pours hazy amber with an ample lingering head. It smells of spicy Belgian yeast, dark fruit, and malt. The flavor is quite sweet with good fruity character, yeast spice, biscuit malt, and candi sugar that’s joined by a substantial oaky taste that doesn’t overwhelm the rest. Very good.

Draught at Gold Star Beer Counter: pours light brown with beige head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, barrel, yeast. Taste is roasty, caramel, dark fruit. A sipper.
