What’s not to love about the scent of a beautiful floral bouquet? pFriem Japanese Lager features aromas of Shiso plum, fresh bread, and violet aromas, and sparkling notes of fresh green tea and wildflowers. Brewed with rice in the Japanese tradition, it’s an effervescent delight that smells like flowers and drinks like beer.

Aromas are mainly malt with hints of hops, rice and floral. Flavors are similar to nose, mildly sweet at first going towards bittersweet and then a mildly sweet finish. Good carbonation and a fuller body than most beers of this type.

On tap at the brewery. Pours gold. Floral, grain, cherry blossom, minerally, very clean. Medium body. Fantastic.

5oz pour on a flight in The Brewhouse, SJC on 18th June 2024. Clean and clear golden blonde, white crust. Refreshing and thirst quenching, but not a lot going on to be honest.

On tap at the Hood River brewery. Very light pale yellow golden pour. Thin soapy white head. Standard light malt slightly corny base and just a touch of noble hops. Slightly sweet. .

Tap at brewery. Gold pour and pillowy head. Nose is florals and yeast and rice. Tastes of rice, grass, green tea, bread. Crisp.

Taster at brewery. Clear golden pour, tight white head, rings of lacing. Grainy aroma, trace of lemon. Taste is light and biscuity, dry. Hay, straw.
