Thanks to the Czech Republic the world has pilsner, some of the finest beers on the face of the planet. This is our 'tip of the hat' to our friends in the Czech Republic and a celebration of their gift to the world.

Available during July and August, Sunburst is a Pilsner style lager. A ceisp clean palete with a pleasing nose from Hersbrucker Hallertau hops.

330ml bottle: BBD Mar 16. Opened and drank on 24th Oct 14. Hazy light golden body, full white crown on top. The nose had a sweet maltiness to it with a trace of floral and herbal notes. The taste was also fairly sweet, pale malt like, with a mild bitterness at the finish.

Re-rating from Stockbridge Tap. This time it was really pleasant - I don’t understand why it was so bad last time. It’s a keg. On this occasion the beer was giving lovely peach notes instead of the vegetable oil previouslly found. Previous rating on 22/01/13. 3+3+1+1+2=1 On tap @ the Stockbridge Tap. Pours golden with a little bit of head. The nose is absolutely stinking of sweetcorn and vegetable oil. The taste is similarly vegetal and although I know this is a characteristic of lager, I’m quite happy to have a note of green beans but this really did smell like cold chip fat after several batches of chips had been fried in it. It’s difficult to describe the palate but I guess it’s light bodied and not refreshing in the slightest. Overall, I can see from the other ratings that the scores are hugely variable on this, so maybe it deserves another chance but I’d rather someone else bought it and I just got a small taste.

Cask @ Old Mill, Brodie
Light blonde with 1 cm dense white head
Aroma of sweet malts, honey, hint of orange, malt a bit sickly, vegetables.
Sweet honey malts, citrus orange, bit buttery, wishy washy flavour.
Low carb, thin, finish much the same as the main flavour but rather dull.
Easy drinking, but the malts are a bit of a sweet mishmash and its cloying on the palate. Not great. A Pilsner? You must be joking!
