Thursday 16th October 2025. Cobweb tasting session with four friends, almost every beer being very old or just 'out of date' (mostly very old). My place being the venue. Cheers Mike, this 440ml can was in date (BB 13th Feb 2027), obviously a mistake! Anyway it was very pleasant, black bodied, tanned crown on each pour, rich and heavy, good depth of flavour with sweet biscuits and chocolate to the fore.

Can from The Green Goddess, Blackheath Royal Standard. Black pour with a tan head. Chocolate ice cream, toffee, caramel & raisin aromas. Taste is vanilla, liquorice toffee, caramel, raisin. Sharp bitterness in the close.

440ml can. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, vanilla, dark malts. Taste of sweet milk chocolate, vanilla, liquorice, dark and biscuity malts, a little dark fruit, surprisingly bitter finish with a lot of warming booze. Medium-full bodied, smooth. A nice stout but even by Tartarus' standards it's extremely boozy and the bitterness is dangerously close to being astringent.

440ml can. Pours jet black with a large head. Aroma is sweet roast, creamy milk chocolate, liquorice and a little raw alcohol. Taste has creamy milk chocolate throughout with some liquorice and roast on the finish.

Svart med lys brunt skum. Lukter mørk sjokolade, nøtter, marsmallow og toffee. Fyldig. Smaker salt lakris, bitter kaffe, blomster og noe vanilje. Middels lang.

1/5/2023. Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield shared at SBGP2. Pours black with a small frothy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla wafer, chocolate, cookies and cream, treacle, dark fruits, caramel, tobacco edge. Moderate sweetness, quite heavy bitterness. Medium body, creamy, average to soft carbonation. Enjoyed this more than many it seems.
