Ashanti is the little sister of our 2022 Zwanze, Lambic with Gorilla pepper.
Same recipe, same pepper, but slightly more focused on the Lambic side compared to the first blend.
The spicy, fruity, and obviously peppery side is still very present and harmonizes superbly with the natural power of our Lambic.
The name of the beer comes from the inhabitants of the neighboring land, the Ashanti Kingdom, who were famous traders of this pepper.
This pepper is available to purchase at Sandrine’s store, Misao La Maison des Poivres, in Brussels. She also collected the pepper left over in the tanks after macerations and then dried it. This Lambic-infused version is also available to purchase at Misao.

750 ml corked and capped bottle purchased at the Cantillon Brewery in Brussels, Belgium. The pour is a slight haze golden with no head to speak of. The aroma is pepper, eucalyptus, general perfume, big herbal spice and maybe even some floral and honey deep beneath that. The taste starts with the perfume, moves quickly to herbal, and the pepper is sort of in and around all of those flavors. The classic gueuze taste peeks out, particularly as the beer warms. Big crazy flavors. The palate is medium to light bodies, with fine carbonation and the pepper and gueuze finish. Fun, crazy, interesting beer.

LCI. Lovely, less complex than the 2023. More floral, slightly less pepper. Beautiful funk and touch of spice
