This dark pilsner has, over the years, become a clear sign that Christmas is upon us. The annual launch in Denmark, known as 'J-day', takes place the first Friday in November and is a day of celebration across Denmark. Carlsberg employees drive around in truck to visit bars and cafés while singing the traditional Tuborg Christmas Brew song and handing out free beer to the guests to mark the start of the festive season.
The beer itself is a bottom-fermented wiener beer brewed on lager, münchener and caramel malt, and added English liquorice. The beer is dark-golden with a fresh aroma of caramel, cereal, liquorice and blackcurrant.

BOTTLE 750 ml as Christmas Brew by Carlsberg Romania. Clear copper, light beige head. Some grains/cereals, bread crust, simple malt sweetness and fusel - just like any other macro lager. Looks like the specialty malts are mostly for color - the taste only has a light hint of caramel. The body is quite smooth, the finish is half spicy hops and half fusel. Drinkable.

Blikje verkregen van Marije, schenkt caramel bruin/rood helder, zeer licht ongefilterd, met plakkerige beperkt witte kraag. Aroma van caramel direct waarneembaar na het openen van het blikje, zoet, mout. Pours a clear yellow golden color, topped with an avergae white foamy head. Malty aroma, some grains and grassy notes. Taste is similar. Sweet and grainy, a bit watery and with a minimal bitterness in the finish. Nothing bad, but pretty average. Drinkable lager.
