2021 Vintage Aged in Maple Syrup Barrels for 18 months
This barley wine was aged in freshly emptied maple syrup barrels from Canada (that had previously been used to age bourbon), and is set apart from it’s sibling beers Paragon 2021 & Off the Rack Paragon Rum barrel by it’s much sweeter body. This plays brilliantly with the obvious maple flavours imparted by the barrels as well as classic barley wine notes of treacle, prunes, marzipan, spices and vanilla with oak flavours lingering in the background.

Kumlefjorden Juleølsmaking 2022. Dark brown color with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, alcohol, maple. Flavor is roasted malt, alcohol, maple, sugar, dried fruit, caramel, wood, chocolate. Powerful beer.

Bottle, 75cl. It’s lightly unclear in the glass, dark brown, with a minimalistic dark beige head. The aroma is lightly roasted, with alcohol, dried fruit, maple, wood and some chocolate. Soy sauce notes, brown sugar and lots of caramel. It’s full-bodied, warming and smooth on the palate, with a decent bitterness. Maple syrup, alcohol and lots of caramel in the flavor, with a touch of dark chocolate, soy sauce and brown sugar. Everlasting finish. A delicious one indeed, perhaps a bit sweet though. 221126

Draught No head but cream rim; almost black beer with purple highlights. Maple syrup, ketjap manis, nuts, alcohol & fusels, ripe banana, Bourbon & vanilla. Dry - with the sweetness arriving behindhand. Again nuts, ripe banana, dark chocolate. Hopbitterness. Feels viscous but not really thick. Fiery alcoholheat and -burn. Wild... a beer that not all breweries would succeed.
