Double rye barrel-aged imperial stout

Laptops perched in the brewhouse, video meetings filled with laughs— this virtual collab with BLVD Brewing packs a bold introduction. One & Dunn was brewed with a traditional triple mash technique before successive aging in hand-selected premium rye whiskey barrels. Pouring with a thick body, this imperial stout boasts big, rye oak barrel character balanced with notes of roasted malt and dark chocolate. Make room in your cellar; this just might not be One & Dunn after all.

Can. It pours an unclear dark brown body under a minimalistic brown head. Roasted malts, alcohol, coffee some dark dried fruit, oats, booze and some licorice and dark chocolate. It's full-bodied, warming and softly carbonated. Alcohol, roasted malts, coffee and dark dried fruit. Toffee, licorice and oat hints. Lasting finish. A delicious one indeed, tasteful, dangerously easy drinkable too. Sure would like to have this one again. 240224

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Black colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is inky, some rye bread, some grains and mild alcohol sweetness to it. Flavour is liquorice, some mild rye bready tones with ink and quite much alcohol to it. Quite a tight one. But when sipping, good!

Expensive 13.7% ABV pint can pours with a deep dark chocolate colored body that oozes out of the can and supports a shorted lived mocha colored head. The aroma offers up inviting reduced sugars blended with molasses soaked oak and smooth and sweet smelling rye whiskey. The taste delivers smooth and thick and rich palate covering goodness. I get highly roasted burnt malts quickly bleeding into vanilla sweetened chocolate and then a warming sherry to rye whiskey booziness. To midway it picks up thin layers of molasses infused coconut and molasses coated and blunted wood oak notes and then murmurs of a sense of sweet dark fruity esters. This is just balanced great with loads of depth and nuance to keep the geek in my happy. Despite the 15usd per pint can price I may need another one or two.

Canned 8/18/23, drunk 11/20/23. Deep mahogany, undetermined clarity. Dark tan head immediately to ring. Nose is chocolatey, nutty rye and butter toffee with spicy whiskey and no booziness (?!). Bit of cherry and vanilla lingering. Holy crap this is neither boozey nor sugary, wtf is going on at this brewery?! This is not the Bruery I know and hate!? Rich, thick, chocolate-cherry-vanilla. Some tobacco, ash, nutty rye and a chewy, thick, syrupy texture. And still no alcohol after warming. A really well-made, not boozey, not sugary Bruery beer?! What a time to be alive!
