0.33 L gift can from daughter in Norway. Probably should not be styled as a plain belgian dark, this is a flavored spiced beer. Pour is not completely black but almost. It looks like root beer. Quite nice mello dark beer nose, roasted malts with a little bit of slices on the olfactory. Stronger dark beer impact on tongue then the holiday spices start to stick their head up. I know this is a Christmas spiced beer but its my opinion, it would be better without those spices. The spice even makes it get near cloying in the middle. Not as heavily spiced as the domestic spiced bombs of holiday yore, but its still very prominent. Good thing there is some co2 in there to keep my brain off the spice impact. A little difficult near the end.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet; Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.2%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Aroma of dark malts, cocoa / chocolate and mild coffee, hints of Christmas spices. Tolerable flavour, a bit too sweet, with the same elements as the aroma. Hints of prunes and other dark fruits. Some bittering hops in the finish. Okay.

Can @ home. Clear deep amber body under a big, beige head. Aroma is malty with some caramel and dry fruit. Taste is sweet malt, toast, caramel, dry fruit and balanced moderate bitterness. Fine body with smooth aftertaste. Nice, well made, rather classic, straight forward amber. Fine balanced all over with high drinkability and tasing nice.

Can. A lightly hazy light brown beer with a dense, finger-thick beige head. Caramel, some roasted malts and dried fruit in the aroma. Hints of dark chocolate, coffee and spices. Some alcohol. It’s full-bodied and lightly warming, with a gentle carbonation. Coffee hints and some dark chocolate and a spiced yeasty hint. Medium length finish. A bit unbalanced, but not bad. 231124
