The latest in our series takes inspiration from chocolate caterpillar cake, and begs the question; is anything safe from Scottish chippies …or breweries? We’ve pushed chocolate levels to the limit, combining chocolate malts and wheat with cacao husks, nibs, cholaca and cocoa powder for the ultimate indulgent imperial stout. Expect a rich, velvety mouthfeel and layers of vanilla so smooth it could squash supermarket squabbles with a single sip.

Много шоколада, прям тяжесть тела ощущается, при том что алкашки почти нету. Сладкий, есть какао. Легка дисбаланс на финише.

Man's dead...how is something this boozy, so easy to drink. Like a chocolate milkshake. Amazing.

(Draught at BrewDog Shepherds Bush, London, 24 Nov 2024) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, cacao and sweet espresso. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, cacao, sweet espresso, a touch of sweet liquorice and a balanced cacao bitterness. Full body, sweet. Loads of chocolate. Sweet and a bit boozy. Really rich and tasty. Great beer!

29/1/2025. Keg at The Dead Crafty Beer Company, Liverpool. Served in a nifty Vault City third glass. Pours black with a small creamy beige head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, chocolate cake, cacao, marshmallow, some dark fruit notes. Sweet and luxurious, full bodied and smooth, not one to enjoy a pint of but in a third yeah this worked.

Can picked up from Stacks Sint-Kruis, Brugge, Belgium. Had this at home Saturday 14th December 2024, listening to Idles - Tangk we had a Dishoom Keema Pau, with Pilau Rice and Poppadoms. Pours shark eye black in colour, with a small beige head. The aroma is chocolate dark molasses and it seems like it's going to be very sweet. Ok yea in the mouth it's very sweet, too sweet, chocolate dominates, there is some toffee and vanilla, it's also cakey, but it's just a one trick pony and not a very good one at that. I was a bit disappointed

Keg at Brewdog Shepherds Bush, London. A black coloured pour with a thin off white/beige head on top. Rich, sweet, roasty, malty, chocolate, caramel, vanilla taste/aroma. A lovely sweet imperial stout.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Sweetish aroma of chocolate cake, molasses and alcohol. Extremely sweet flavour of chocolate cake, a small glass is acceptable as "konfekt", a large glass would be nearly undrinkable.

330ml can. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, vanilla, toffee, chocolate cake. Taste is stupidly sweet, chocolate cake, chocolate, other forms of chocolate, vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, dark malts and a light bitterness that's almost completely enveloped by the sweetness. Full bodied. Alcohol remarkably well hidden given the ABV, just some warmth in the finish. Really good but even a little 330ml can is a bit much, glad this was my last of the night.
