Brewed with our friends at Highland Park Brewery, this stout is stuffed with chocolate and roast barley malts and was aged for a year in premium bourbon barrels. Aromas of semi-sweetened dark chocolate, fig, and vanilla meet flavors of bourbon and baking spices. Simultaneously viscous and smooth, and delivered in a limited-edition 500 mL bottle, this collaboration is not to be missed.

Pours a jet black body and a nice brown head that doesn't last long. Aroma's: sweet, bourbon, alcohol, (red) fruity. Retonasal it's sweet, brown sugar, bourbon, dark fudge, rye. Flavour is heavy sweet, but not cloying, bourbon-y. Medium bodied. Fairly soft carbonation. Warming alcohol. Finishes with molasses, still sweet, but also light roast and bitterness. Sweet but delicious.

500mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has light bourbon barrels, a touch of pineapple, and light roast. Flavour has plenty of pineapple (WTF?), with light bourbon barrels, and a touch of roast. Very pineapple-y, which rather detracts from the barrels and complexity of the malts. Yet, it's still very good, just not at the heights of many FW beers.

Capped 500 from the brewery. Pours clear, very, very dark brown with a dark tan smear. Aroma of dark fruit, bourbon, vanilla and toasted/burnt malt notes. And I think heat as well. Quite full bodied. Not dry, but missed sticky. Flavor is dark figgy (not raisin) fruit, bourbon, t/b malt, a little heat, some vanilla. Finally gets some significant chocolate as the other flavors wear away. Excellent.
