Grei lager, fyldig og kanskje litt søt. Gammel oppskrift? Litt tyskinspirert, kanskje.

Nice clear amber color with white head. It’s somewhat fruity but not special. It’s satisfying but almost. Typical pale lager.

Bottled 660ml. -Pale golden coloured, big (huge) bubbles of carbonation, airy white head that went away fast, cornflakes in the nose. Empty, dry salty water with minimal notes of malt and corn. Typical Italian crappy 0.66l lager.

This is brewed by Forst, not even mentioned on Menabrea’s site anymore. Poured a yellow-golden body with a fizzy medium sized white head that went away fast. Slightly skunky aroma, notes of vegetables, slightly acidity, some maltiness. The taste is that vegetabley, herbal hopiness, dry, almost no sweetness, hardly any bitterness, somewhat salty though. Not offensive, a typical Italian crap lager, maybe some sweetish corn notes.

Fra fat på fortausrestaurant i Livorno: en kjærkommen tørsteslukker etter å ha tatt lokaltoget tilbake fra Firenze. Kaldt og forfriskende, men helt uten særpreg eller mersmak.

Mine does not say original, it says italia birra. Drank directly from a bottle and it looks like pale lager. Weird processed aroma. Sweeter, old lager feel with some interesting background, if I put it in a nice way. Pretty good sizzle. A little cagey at times, you know like wew. Its OK for 4.5% but it is a little rude for a pale lager. If alky content was any more, it may induce a gag reflex. It must be a little old, thats all I can figure. Not as good as some other pale lager italy beers I’ve had. Hey, I’m a pale lager liker and this is a little below average, I guess I would feel differently if it was fresh.

0.66 bottle brewed at Forst plant. Similar to Forst Premium, focusing on herbs. Poured into a frozen small mug, appears very pale yellow, thin and fine white head (started very creamy, maybe because of extremely low temperature). Nose is mostly herbs, hops, like a pilsener. Light malt, corn predominance, sweet hops. Tastes a bit salty, moderate bitter finish. Medium carbonation, thin body, dry feel. A bit flat but refreshing and perfect during meals. Like Forst and Castello, this is the best of Italian industrial production.

Boring lager appearance, weak yellow with just a hint of head. Aroma of cardboard and the homeless - I get a whiff of that "begging for change" aroma you catch every so often when some guy with a paper cup starts harassing you. Flavour is all European cardboard - like you went to a recycling plant just outside of Milan and started sucking on the separated pulp bundles hoping to get drunk. Smooth mouthfeel of rice adjuncts. This thing is just horrid on every level.

Bottle looks simple, but good. Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Starts mild, modest spicy-hoppy, a bit grasy. Finish well balanced, still mild. Surprisingly good. Thanks to my friends Fiene and Marcel for this one!

13/10 This is obviously the regular Italian version of Menabrea, 1846 is USA only, so both were rated there so far... Doggythedog and me got a 0.66l bottle that he found in a supermarket in Andora (Italy). It poured golden body with bigger head. Hop and some pale lager malt in aroma. A bit bitter flavor from herbal hops, that raw malt again and some strange toasty notes. Medium body and shorter, bittersweet finish. Nothing special, but fine and pleasant pils/pale lager.
