A full bodied imperial stout with flavors from dark malts and the perfect amount of hops. Then barrel aged in two different barrel-types. Perfect!
This beer's base is our classic imperial stout, Idjit, which started out as an experiment to see how strong a beer we could brew. And even though that experiment never saw the light of day, it taught us a lot.
With that knowledge, we created Idjit, a potent and unique true imperial stout loaded with the flavor of tonnes of dark malts and just the right amount of hops. It is black as the night and as smooth as it is powerful. Barrel aging Idjit was always a given. And when we do, it always turns out perfect.
This double-barrel-aged version is the third iteration of Perfect Idjit. The best of American whisky and bourbon, infused into our forever stout. And even though we love it, It's not pastry. It's not chocolate sauce. It's not an adjunct bonanza. It's a straightforward, no-nonsense, like back in the day, knock your socks off, malt-cake of a beer. And it's perfect. Adult!

Sampled @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2024, Friday. A very dark brown beer with a beige lacing. Aroma and Taste of mild smoked dark malt, wood whiskey, red fruits, tobacco.

Pours black, small tanned head. Scent is bit 'green coffee / green peppers ' . Taste is roasty, green and herbal. Boozy. thin and medium low carbo. Raw green coffee aftertaste.

On tap at The Rake, Borough Market. Black pour with a light tan head. Nose is dark chocolate, treacle toffee, coffee, cocoa, bourbon. Taste is dark roast coffee, cocoa, dark chocolate, smoke, touch of coconut. Lots or warming bourbon coming through in the back end. Robust tasty brew.
