A hazed brown ale with a thick brown head. In aroma, sweet berry malt with faint smoked notes. In mouth, a good vinous malt with light peated notes, licorice, a bit thin, but good.

Bottle. Clear deep dark amber color, small beige head, solid lacing. Aroma of relatively subtle smouldering embers. Taste is burnt and smokey caramel and nutella on dark toast. Tasty.

Grape & Gourmet 12oz ($2.79): Pours a light brown with a not white head. Aroma is lightly smoked malts, sugar, and wood. Taste is essentially of a smoked brown ale. The smoky malts take center stage, but they don’t try to suffocate you with smoke. Nice body. Nice balance throughout. I enjoyed this subtle take on a smoked.

Bottle @ Armin’s house. Thanks Baker! Dark brown orange appearance with a decent tan head. Somewhat meaty smoky, caramel, nice sweet malty aroma. Dark caramel malty, meaty moderately smoky, rich malty flavor. I like it!

Clear mahogany color. Plenty of smoke in the aroma. Thin crisp astringent and smokey flavor. Feels highly attenuated. Quick finish.

Tree bark smell, and perhaps some gym socks, but the cleanliness of the glass is questionable. Dark tea colored, thin yellow head. Fig and dried leaves flavor, but dry. Faint smoke and rancid meat finish. Alcohol well concealed, velvety mouthfeel, medium body. Smoke was tastefully done, but the base beer wasn’t remarkable.

Bottle. Poured a dark amber color with small white head. Aroma was touch of nuts, caramel, malts, chocolate malts. Flavor was sweet malts, touch of dried fruits, a bit of smoke (but not like a smoke beer, which often taste like liquid smoke and bacon).

Bottle: Poured a clear medium amber color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of light smoked notes with nice caramel malt backbone. Taste is not as smoky as expected thought still clearly noticeable with great notes of of caramel malt. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Good mix between solid malt backbone and smoky flavor though I still think more smoke flavor would have provided more enjoyment for me.
