750 mL bottle from Westpark in Richmond. Pours red with a huge frothy head. Decent lacing. Fruity, grainy aroma. Rye comes through nicely on the taste. Texture is heavy and syrupy.

Courtesy of fishingnet. Pours an over fizzing hazy brownish copperish orange with weak tan like head. The aroma is nearly mild with sweet date, prune and plum fruitiness, biscuit malts, melanoidin malt, some earthiness, mustiness and light alcohol notes. The taste comes off as a bit thin ushering in fruity esters of plums and dates along with some rich mildly roasty malts and vague, pine maybe, hop bitterness. I get just a faint rye twang in there too. The overall experience doesn’t really come together for me here.

Slightly hazy dark copper body with a huge frothy off-white head. Sweet spicy, toast and grain aroma with some light breadiness. Dry rye flavor with some toast and grain and noticable breadiness. Medium body with moderately high carbonation.

750ml bottle-pours a big retaining foamy light tan head with hazy mahogany color. Aroma is dark/medium malt-molasses/chocolate, dark fruit-raisins/prunes, roasty, nutty, some spice hops. Taste is much different than aroma. Rye-medium malt-some sweetness, nutty, some spicy hops. Medium body. Dry finish.

750ml bottle. Pours a dark orange/clear light brown color. Nice white head. Aroma is dark fruit, some toffee, and toasted malts and a touch of grain. Flavor was a little sweet, but most of that was balanced by the toasted elements. I wouldn’t say this one stood out, but I may have to pick this one up again as I was impressed enough by it’s taste.

Cloudy brown pour, with a fizzy head - fairly apparent rye in the aroma, with underlying caramel malt, cherry and raisin fruitiness, some brown sugar, yeasty notes - the carbonation is fairly high, and nearly abrasive in the mouth - since most great bocks are creamy in texture, this is a bit of a turn-off - much drier than I expected - strong rye flavor, with some caramel and lager fruitiness underneath - yeasty, bready flavors, with some slight warm, spicy notes - fairly tasty, but why do their 750s have to cost so much?

Clear, amber-auburn with some deeper earthen-brown tints. Beige head atop is small, and shows moderate retention, little lacing.
Some spicy hops and a bit of a yeast bite definitely define the style, but I dont get much of the rye, if any, and the caramel/toffee sweetness hits pretty heavily. Light alcohol notes dry the finish, which has some gingerbread-molasses qualities that help the complexity. A bit sweet, though, and I could do without the alcohol. Medium strength of aroma, overall.
Sweet toffee and caramel in the flavor is very top-heavy, giving way to a stronger dryness, or more accurately, astringency, due to the breadiness of the malts and some alcohol heat. Some spicy hops are notable, but are pushed back by the sweetness. Some chocolate-coffee hints on the finish, after warming. Really reaching for things to say about this. It’s underattenuated even for a style that’s about malt richness, and has pretty poor complexity, lacking lager yeast crispness and too much alcohol heat. Despite all the malt sugars, the mouthfeel still remains somewhat hardened by the filtration and excessive caramel malts.

Courtesy of Brewfiend. Wheat aroma, some rye. Lots of sediment in this murky brown beer. Flavor has lots of yeast, with a little more wheat and some malt. Just a little sour. Dry finish.

Frothy off-white head over a murky, chestnut colored body. Toasty malt aroma, peppery. Lightly sweet with supportive but subdued hops as you would look for in a good Bock. Medium bodied with a smooth delivery.

An unclear amber beer with a small disappearing head. The aroma is spicy with notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is dry, malty with notes of caramel, over-ripe fruit, and prunes.
