Hoppy? Brother, 471 IPA redefines hoppy. 471 is a small batch, limited edition ale that was created by our Brewmaster to separate the weak from the strong. 471 is a double IPA, that combines Pale, Munich, Caramel-30, Carapils and Torrified Wheat malts, with Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe and Fuggles hops. It has a big sweet mouthfeel, followed by more hoppiness than you've ever had at one time. Enjoy

Bottle, 355 ml at Breukelen Bier Merchants as 471 Small Batch Double Hopped IPA. Pours orange to amber with off-white head. Fruit and pine hoppy aroma. Caramel malts, fruit, pine flavor with dry bitter finish.

This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a deep hazy orange color with a one finger soft foamy white head that dissipated within about a minute. The lacing was spotty and messy.
The smell was dried grapefruit peel with a light bitter lemon and it acted upon a light oily earthy hoppiness.
The taste was somewhat sweet and somewhat bitter at different times throughout the beer. It never seemed combined and thorough.
The palate consisted of a delicate bitter hop base (yes, I say delicate, whoah, delicate for an DIPA, yikes, where’s the harshness I long desire for). However, I must admit the oiliness came in on my tongue to make it somewhat slick.
Overall, interesting DIPA, would I have this again? Honestly, with all of the DIPA’s on the market, I don’t think I’d seek this one out but probably wouldn’t turn it down if this was all that was offered.

Not sure what kind of hops they are using here but it’s pretty funky. Comes together with some booze, some perfume. Finishes well. Pours orange with good head and lacing. On tap at DC Beer Festival.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 4/1/2014. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy orange amber color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, peach, citrus rind, floral, grass, caramel, bread, light pine, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of bright citrus/tropical hop notes with moderate malt sweetness; and good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, peach, pineapple, orange peel, floral, grass, citrus rind, caramel, bread, pine, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, peach, pineapple, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity of bright citrus/tropical hop flavors with moderate malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a crisp and moderately slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity of citrus/tropical hop flavors and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Consumed at home Wednesday 26th February 2014 Pours red amber with off-white head, wonderfully bitter, really tangy. Initially sweet but soft carbonation, some sweet very pithy lemon. Bottle in hotel room orlando... Deep brown... Thin tan head... Soft sweet caramel toffee.. Quite fruity nose... Sweet dry wiidy caramel malts... Probably too much if that malt i dont like... But im just happy to be here and drinking

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark cloudy amber with almost no head. Aromas of red fruit, citrus, toasted malt. Smooth flavours of toffee, light pine, and bitter marmalade. Bitter fruity finish. Very nice.

Tap at GABF 2013. Poured a clear light amber with a thin white head. The aroma is grassy hop. The flavour is strong bitter with a liqourice hop smooth malt palate.

Cloudy amber with a small, vanilla head. Fruit nectar, toast aroma.....bready. Grapefruit peel and resin flavour...caramel. Sticky fruit and pronounced bitterness. Strong alcohol presence.
