I find it very difficult to find the redeeming qualities in summer beers. Its rare to have one that achieves all the goals that the brewer makes, and this is no exception. Crisp, clear, muted hop tones, the lagering only makes this cloying with the addition of the munich malts. Blah

There’s something about this beer that doesn’t quite work, as if the constituent ingredients didn’t come together. The 5.0% alcohol is strangely prominent.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 4/4/2013. Pours lightly hazy golden straw color with a 1 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon zest, pear, apple, grape, floral, grass, cracker, bread, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of malt, hop, and yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon zest, pear, apple, cracker, bread, floral, grass, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, cracker, bread, floral, grass, light pepper, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of malt, hop, and yeast ester flavors; with good robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good pilsner style. All around well balanced flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle from Appellation Wines shared at home - cheers Ash! Pours light gold with a big rocky head. Lemon citrus and lager malt nose. Some very light caramel and floral notes coming through. Light bitterness. Good summer quaffing beer.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a shaker. Pours clear pale yellow with small white head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is crisp hops, light body, low carbonation, and some small bubble lacing. Taste is crisp hops. This is a pilsner, not sure why it is listed as premium lager. Not interested in having this again.

12oz can. Filtered tanned-yellow body. Big frothy, white head. In a sense one of the more tame Sierra offerings, but they still nail it. This is a great hoppy lager, tastes hoppier than I remember from years past, but my appreciation for quality Lager has appreciated since then as well. Doughy lager tones, but bold hop bite. Well done, underappreciated beer.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; bright light amber pour with thin white head, faint malt aroma, taste is malt a hint of hay and honey crisp a piece of lemon and excitable carbonation.

355ml bottle from Appellation Wines (Comely Bank). Golden with a slim head that goes after a while. Citrus and pale malt on the nose. The taste has more of the pale malt and citrus/herb finish. The palate has got some cliche going on - is it ’listen to the notes that aren’t being played’? Anyway, it drinks pretty perfectly - although the body is very gentle everything is in the right place - no bulges where there shouldn’t be any. Enjoyed it!

Bottle pours straw yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is clean grains and grassy hops. Flavor is again clean pale straw and peppery slightly soapy hops. Yes please!
