Refreshing Light Summer Lager

A refreshing lager for blazing days, Summerfest balances delicate yet complex malt alongside spicy, floral hops. Hints of lemon zest lead into a crisp finish, and the sessionable 5% ABV invites another round of this summertime beer that pours golden bright like the sun.

355ml bottle. 2018 vintage. Pours a clear straw colour with a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that laces. Aroma of grainy malt, vegetal, bread, lemongrass and floral hops. Sweet flavour of bready malt, grain, lemon rind, bitter grass and pepper with a crisp, dry, floral hop finish. Light to medium body with a watery texture and average carbonation. An ok Czech Pilsner.

Pours hazy with a thick white head. Aroma of hops. Tastes like a pilsener with a distinct hoppiness that isn’t typical of the style. Palate of hops and light citrus. Bready influences. Typical Sierra Nevada version of a pilsener.

Keg at the Oakford Social Club, Reading. Gold with a thick white head and a moderate fizz. Rather a thin body. Mild lemon and grass flavour diminishes by the end leaving a hint of butter and a moderate bitterness in a lightly dry finish. Didn’t know it was a pils; would have guessed it was a low-grade industrial golden ale.
