Refreshing Light Summer Lager
A refreshing lager for blazing days, Summerfest balances delicate yet complex malt alongside spicy, floral hops. Hints of lemon zest lead into a crisp finish, and the sessionable 5% ABV invites another round of this summertime beer that pours golden bright like the sun.

Bottle. Clear yellow with large foamy white head, almost no aroma, medium carbonation, lightly bitter malty taste, thin body, abrupt finish with malt aftertaste. Nice but not a great Pilsner.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Trader Joe’s. Aroma is light cracker, yeast, mild herbs. Appearance is clear golden yellow with zero sparkle and three-finger-width fizzy white head with decent retention and little lacing. Taste is as aroma. Palate is light bodied with thin texture and average-to-soft carbonation with malt/yeast finish. Overall, this is clean and refreshing and a bit meatier than a macro lager but that’s about it. Nothing special to see...move along.

On tap at Torpedo Room in Berkeley, California-USA. Semi clear gold pour, white foam. Nose: yeast, honey, cereals, bread. Great! Mouth: talks to Franconia! Crisp, grainy, peppery noble hops. Great execution! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft @ the source. A very light yellow b2 finger solid white head. Big bubbles. Simcoe aroma. Pine, walnut and lemon peel. Good carnation bite. Lemon and orange and orange soda. Excellent mouthfeel. Lacks in bitterness and the mouthfeel is overwhelming for a 5% beer.

*Old rating. Best before 28/03/12. Smooth fresh and crisp Pils. Smooth, round with a moderate bitter aftertaste. Nice.

Bottle. Gold with a white head that doesn’t last that well. Grainy aroma with some nice, quite delicate spicy and floral notes, some lemon. Sweet hay and grains don’t dovetail all that well with the hops, but there’s some spicy bitterness. Sound enough but uneventful.

Bottle. Nothing new here, but this satisfied my craving for a pilsner. Standard appearance, not much foam and carbonation seems a little light. rain and malt flavors, dry and bitter. Big saaz flavor, and it is also in the aroma. I am surprised this is not rated higher.

Sierra Nevada’s Summerfest 2015 Crisp Lager. It pours a bright clear gold with a foamy white head. The aroma is mildly fruity with a cork quality to it and a decent breadiness. Sharp carbonation on a med-light body with a crisp dry finish. The taste is a bit earthy then biting herbal hops and some flatbread malt sweetness. Refreshing on a hot day, not the best Czech lager I’ve had but they’re near the mark of what the style should be. Decent.

Pours a light amber from a bottle, slight white head made from largish bubbles resulting from a vigorous pour. Aroma of biscuit, some grass. In addition to that, some lemon in the mouth. Good pilsner, I'm usually kind of down on the style.

12 oz. bottle into a pilsner glass. Best by 09/11/2015. A: A gentle pour yields a small quickly settling head with nice lace patterns and prolific carbonation bubbles. Clear brassy gold color is very nice. S: Light floral hops and sour baguette toast. T: Balanced soft flavors of biscuit and sweet bread quickly followed by bitter hops. Short, dry finish. Very good. A bit of a vegetal note late but not off-putting. M: Light but still full mouthfeel with lots of carbonation though not enough to be out of place for the style. O: I’ve now rated both Summerfest and Nooner. I thought I was sure I preferred Nooner But now who knows. I like them both a lot.
