Smoked Celtic Porter.
Pronounced "Isle", our smoked porter, "Aile" is the Manx word for fire and nothing evokes the dark smokiness of a cosy winter night by the old pub hearth, than this sumptuous, global award-winner. Find your favourite chair and enjoy some pure indulgence.
Okells Aile is a Porter, very dark in colour with smokey aromas of liquorice and coffee. Brewed with a blend of Pale, crystal, black and chocalate malt with a touch of peated malt. Late hopped with Cascade, Willamette and Styrian Goldings. Initially sweet full bodied, silky smooth liquorice on the palate dry hop bitter finals.
Ingredients: Hops: 1) First Gold, Pilgrim 2) Cascade, Willamette 3) Styrian Goldings, Willamette.

Bottle. Dark brown to black color with a average frothy good lacing light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet, smoke, roasted, light hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter, moderate to heavy acidic with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a longlasting creamy tan head. Sweeet roasted malty smoke aroma. Sweet roasted malty and slightly smokey flavor with some hints of chocolate. Sweet malty finish with hints of smoke and chocolate.

(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 24 Oct) Pitch black colour with frothy, brown head. Roasted nose, slightly smokey, with coffee, chocolate, cocoa, tar and wet ashes. Fruity and roasted taste with coffee, chocolate, blueberries, crowberries and a nice citrussy bitterness i the finish. Slightly sweet notes of cherries hidden somewhere in the middle. Very good, nice surpise.

Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Black. Aroma of licorice and lemon. Medium sweet with evident beechwood smokeiness, notes of tobacco and coffee. Creamy roasty malt gives it rounded mouthfeel, while smoke and salt fight for attention in the finish.

Draught. Pitch black colour, huge white head. Aroma of sweet malts, some hops, roast and hay. Also dark fruit and slight roast. Flavour strong roasted and smoked malts with caramellish hints. Wet smoked wood in finish and aftertaste. Quite leathery all the way through also. Pleasant brew, though the hops do make it a bit "strange".

Tap@Beer Hunters, Pori. Pitch black, tiny tan head. Chocolaty, slightly roasted aroma. Roasted, chocolaty, maybe a hint of smoke here in the flavor, otherwise "smoked" is quite misleading.

Cask handpull at Folkestone Wetherspoons. Black beer with thick bubbly beige lasting head. Porter is such an under made and under appreciated style, every brewery should make one and brew it on a regular basis, it’s a great style. And this is an interesting version. Odd burst of hops on aroma. You expect roast malt/choc/coffee or sour liquorice, but it’s choc hop instead. In mouth there’s liquorice and choc and then tight hop bite on the end with more liquorice. Interesting hop/liquorice/choc balance
