500 ml bottle, from Selfridge’s food store, London. ABV is 5.5%. Very dark brown colour, large to moderate beige head. Nice malty aroma and flavour, notes of caramel, dark dried fruits and nuts, hints of chocolate. Rich mouthfeel. Moderate but noticeable hops in the finish. Well balanced and very enjoyable.

Bottle from Ocado. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Aromas of chocolate nut, caramel, toffee, whack of dark fruits. Flavours of raisins, nuts, chocolate, more dark fruit coming through in the back end. Malty sweet mouthfeel. Light hit of hops in the finish.

Bottle online from Ocado. Pours a very dark brown almost black with a slight reddish hue and a medium sized creamy beige head. Aromas of dark fruits, chocolate, roasted malts, treacle and liquorice. Taste is more dark fruits, chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, burnt brown bread and a touch more liquorice. Medium body, low carbonation and smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Quite a nice wintery beer.

Bottle at home, 20th December 2021. Pours a clear chestnut brown. Aroma is nutty, caramel, roasted malts. Taste is smooth, caramel, burnt sugar and roasted malts, nutty and very tasty, nice by the fire

Pours black with a small head.Nose shows chocolate and nutty malt along with faint coffee notes.Flavours include bready malt, sultanas, golden syrup and faint coffee. A bit faded and oxidised though.Body feels watery.

500ml bottle. Dark brown, thin off white head and minimal retention. Aroma is malty, light roast, berries, coffee. Taste is dark chocolate, sweet malts, nuts, a light fruity berry note. Moderate body and carbonation. A nice winter warmer this one, very good beer.

19/10/2019. Bottle from Cotswold Vintners, Chipping Sodbury. Pours mid brown with a towards beige head. Aroma of dried fruit, malt, Christmas cake, orange truffle, dates and toffee. Medium plus sweetness and light to moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight sticky texture, soft carbonation. Pretty decent.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. raisinny, almost vinous aroma with licorice and some earthy hops. Malty, just a bit salty, vinous and nutty flavor with licorice and some earthy hops, lingering on in the aftertaste. Tasty ale, satisfyingly balanced.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Clear ruby body with a thin off-white head. Faint lacing. Aroma of fruit cake and toffee. Flavour of caramel, toast and cherry. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. Rich and warming. Decent.
