Poured cleared yellow with a decent head. Bready aroma followed by sweet malts and slight bitterness. Nothing special, but not bad.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a big and blond foamy head. Very mildly grainy pale malty aroma with traces of herbal hops. Slightly sweet flavour with a tinge of bitterness, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Pale malt-character with hints of white bread, a tinge of sour dough and shy herbal hops; sweet and delicately bitter finish. A typical German Festbier. 28.IV.12

Sampled this on tap at the Bamberg Jazz & Blues Festival. Bergkirchweih is specifically an Erlangen festival. Golden colour. Clean bready malt accent with a light spicy hop accent. Clean, thick, sticky malt-accented body. Just enough spicy, balancing hop.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Starts strong, quite hoppy-dry, not really malty. Modest sourish in the background. The finish is a little bit metallically. Still very drinkable. Not bad.
