Bottle. A- Mild smoke, wood, subtle caramel. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, no head. T- Oak, mild vanilla, mild cherry, subtle cola, mild sweetness. P- Full body, average texture, flat carbonation, balanced finish. O- At least 2.5 years old, but not sure on the exact vintage. Would guess it's either 3 or 4 years old. Been saving for a while. Pretty spot on but the body and palate just isn't quite as complex as I wish. The barrel aging shows itself but doesn't allow for much development.

2016 vintage, on draft at the Small City Taphouse. Pours dark brown, with a small, frothy, beige head. The aroma is maple syrup and brown sugar, sweet cherries, toffee, cocoa, toasted coconut, and almonds. Very sweet and boozy. Medium to heavy body, with a grainy, lively, and syrupy mouthfeel. Great aromas, and a nice, boozy palate. Aggressive, and delicious.

Deep brown coloured body with a lighter brown glow showing some cola-like tints and absolutely not head or movement at all - fairly clear, especially for the style and aging. Aroma of ridiculously strong bourbon, scotch, peat, vanilla, oak and pure alcohol aromas - all quite strong, but very complex and robust throughout - nothing to miss here. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong robust vanilla and very sweet notes up front with molasses, brown sugar, caramelised sugars & toffee and ending with quite a bit of pitted fruits and raisins flavours, all with a lot of malt and peat hitting right afterwards. Some earth gives way to caramelised sugars, a lot of raisins and fig notes and ending with a lot of strong alcohol and dry oaky notes with the vanilla at the end somehow as well. Overall, a very complex and very bourbon-forward beer, all with a thinnish profile, no movement or head nor carbonation and relatively sweet, but still with a lot of alcohol showing in the mix as well. Nice to sample and good - with the proper time to drink this would be about the time that I did - no carbonation and a thin enough body all ready means this will just get worse in those categories, but the alcohol probably won't get much more muted, but the flavours are still complex, which is nice. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Good Beer in New York, New York on 25-April-2014 (back when I only had one kid) for US$8,49 sampled exactly FOUR years later on 25-April-2018 (when I have three kids now) at home in Washington.

12oz bottle gifted by Pruf, thanks Chris. A good deal of alcohol on this beer but does not come of as spirit or barrel heat. A little thin on the palate. Sweet leafy earth candy otherwise. Low hop. Lots of lacing from the head.

Outstanding beer. Aroma’s malty, toffee, caramel, burnt sugar, hint of peat. Flavor’s mainly sweet, but not too overly so, as it’s cut nicely by carbonation, peat and a bit of bitter. Excellent body and finish.
