Our Belgian Style Dark Ale is inspired by traditional Abbey Ales to deliver the richest of malt flavors but with a slightly elevated hopping and increased complexity given from two different yeast strains. This malt laden ale is designed to satiate and keep your taste buds dancing.

Biggish beige head. Clear deep dark brown body with lots of little particles floating. Roasty minty toffee aroma with fruity spicy notes. Dry-sweet roasty cardamom taste with spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel with slight heat. Dry-sweet soy sauce and resin aftertaste with roasty cardamom notes. Nice, but a bit too spicy. (0.355l bottle, from Kihoskh, Copenhagen.)

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/30/2012. Pours lightly cloudy dark reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of raisin, fig, plum, pear, caramel, toast, chocolate, clove, pepper, dark candi sugar, dark bread, light roast, light banana, floral, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malt and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of raisin, fig, plum, pear, caramel, chocolate, clove, pepper, toast, dark candi sugar, dark bread, light roast, light banana, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruit, caramel, toast, chocolate, clove, pepper, dark bread, dark candi sugar, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity/balance and solid robustness of dark malt and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a nice malt/spiciness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good Belgian dark ale. Good balance and complexity of malt and yeast ester flavors; and smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pleasant aroma with dark chocolate, some dark fruits, nutty notes and a bit of piney hops. Sweetish flavor with malt, dark chocolate, caramel, some dark fruits, some piney hops and a moderately bitter finish. Medium to full-bodied.

Dark brown with a thin lacing of tan head. Aroma is dark fruit, some slight banana and clove. Flavor is big sweet malt with a nice bitterness to balance it out. Finish is very clean, with a tiny amount of hops. Not overly sweet at all like some big grand crus. Excellent beer.

Bottled, 0.355l. Clear amber brown color with small frothy light brown diminishing head, poor lacing and average visible carbonation. Aroma of moderate malt, caramel and some mild roasted hints, heavy pine and spicy hops, mild alcohol and dried fruits. Taste starts with sweet and rich malt, followed by strong alcohol presence, notes of raisins and prunes, while finished harsh bitter. Full body, oily texture, lively carbonation and heavy astringency in palate. Wow, hell of a strong ale; it feels like 20% ABV to me...
