Hmm, not feeling this completely, maybe a tired barrel!? Little to no aroma, fairly lifeless looking copper colour with a small frothy tan head, there’s caramel malt and some hints of sweet fruit but it falls a bit flat

Hand-pulled half-pint at the Rose & Crown, Ludlow on 12th August 2024. Clean mahogany/bronze body, beige crust. Caramel sweetness from the start, malty throughout and not a bad attempt at a Dunkel in cask form at all. Could have been a tad cooler, but it might have lost some of it's aroma and flavours if it had been chilled (plus have a chill haze of course).

Cask @ Henry Tudor House. Pours a hazed copper, off-white head. Bit warm this, some woody caramel, malty husks, unwelcome stewed fruit, surprisingly hazy and prob signifying it's past it's best

Cask at Rose and Crown, Stafford. Pours reddish brown with a small foamy off-white head. Malts are to the fore in the aroma, with some dark fruity elements. In the mouth it is sweet with a slightly creamy texture with malts and summer fruits standing out. Traces of continental hops and cherries as well. Sweetness is toned down in the long finish. This is decent but somewhat insipid to my taste. Cask lager is not my favourite stile – and I can’t remember ever having had a cask dunkel before.
