Cask at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford One of my favourite session beers. Good resiny hops with biscuity malts and some fruit leads to a dry bitter hop finish that makes you want to take another sip. Good beer

Cask conditioned at The Mitre, Cambridge. Deep golden colour, low to none head. A decent session bitter, nothing wrong, nothing spectacular. Tolerably malty aroma and flavour with a decent hoppy finish.

Cask. Dark golden colour. Slightly astringent, but suting the beer. Full-bodied for its ABV. Slightly sweet. Probably a very good session beer.

Cask Conditioned
Copper color. Nice grassy, earthy aroma. Smooth, salty, but maybe too simple body. The end is a bit watery.

An orange beer, slightly hazy, with a fine off-white head. It has a slight fruity aroma. The flavor is light; fruity, a little flowery, a little cask flat, and with a nice bitter end that lingers. The body is somewhat thin.

I’d had this at the Philharmonic in Liverpool and even the pub couldn’t save it. This re-rate in Edinburgh was more successful. Golden-amber. Nice spicy aroma. The character is mellow, lightly spicy, lightly caramelly. Good, with a subtle complexity.

Sampled cask conditioned at Shepherd's Inn, Melmerby, Cumbria.
Amber coloured. Light and fruity. Medium bitterness. Solid, but one-dimensional.
