440ml can from Left Field Beer, Solihull. Poured almost black in colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasty, light creamy caramel. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, with a smooth, somewhat light, roasty, dry ashtray, light liquorice bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

On tap at Ebenezers, Nantwich. Pours almost black with a medium sized tan head and good lacing. The aroma has roast malts, hints of coffee and smoke. In the mouth it is sweet with a creamy texture but also somewhat thin and watery. Flavour has roasted malts and vanilla with chocolate and hints of cola coming later. Some bitterness in the finish. This is reasonable but a bit bland.

On tap at Low Key Taproom Ashford. Black beer lasting tan head. Some chocolate on aroma. And more dark chocolate in the mouth. It's ok. Some bitterness on the finish. A little dry and a touch of ash on the finish. A bit of tar. Yes ok.

Keg at Gravity Well Tap, Leyton. Aroma has coffee and cacao. Dark. Attempts to be opaque. Creamy white head retreats to the rim. Initial spur berries followed by coffee and malts. Tang with a bitter streak. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Sticky. Soft carbonation attempts some fizz but is in a stupor. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Characterful.

Can from Made In Little France, Islington. Very dark with a small light-brown creamy head. It has a deeper textured roasted taste with plenty in its nose too. There's some milkiness in both. Not huge on flavour but has character.
