Bottle from Home Bargains, Rochdale. Golden with an extremely thin head. Bland effort, a tad hoppy-soapy in design.

500ml bottle from Co-Op Llangollen. Drunk watching Manic Street Preachers at Glastonbury 2023 on the Telly. Pours a clear gold, thin white head. Aroma of corny grain. Taste bears a moderate to low fruity malt sweetness, additional corn, dry bitter close. Feels a bit substandard, as if a novelty football beer must - by law - be substandard. Shame.

[50cl bottle from Home Bargains, Bracknell.] A straw coloured pour with a fast fading white head; inoffensive cereal grain aroma; sweet grainy taste; with a hint of grassy bitterness. No worse than any other macro lager, and worth the 99p I paid for it.

Can from Pugh's Food Hall, Morganstown, near Cardiff. Bought by accident - there was a huge display of rather expensive mixed Mad Dog beers, in the midst of which I saw one at a slightly lower price; grabbed that and stupidly didn't look at it. Couldn't believe I'd inadvertently got a football-themed lager, with some footballer's ugly mug staring at me from the can - and from a completely different brewery to the one I wanted.. It's a pale yellow-gold with a white head and a moderate prickly fizz. Tastes of sweetcorn with a hint of Primula cheese spread on white bread. Sweetish with just a mild bitterness. Dreadful stuff - that'll teach me not to check the can properly in future!
